birth control

The best birth control on the planet is babysitting for days at a time.

bottom line: i have been spending the last few days babysitting two little boys. Just when i thought I couldn't be any more tired, something awesome happened. the youngest pooped on the floor NEXT to the toilet. "miss kelley" got that all cleaned up but it must have been a little stern b/c, literally 20 minutes later, he pooped his pants... and was afraid to tell me. for a moment i wasn't even annoyed- i was impressed. where was all of it coming from?! then i had to clean it up.

i'm SO not ready to have kids yet.

i don't know how my hands aren't bleeding after all the times i have washed them in the last 12 hours.

today i said," walk away until you can't see miss kelley. if you can see me, i can see you- and i don't want that to happen for 20 minutes".

sounds like you and your toddler friend are a bit pooped-out, for lack of a better phrase.
seriously, i admire your courage, determination, patience, and sense of humor. if only i had such a cool sitter as Miss Kelley when i was a kid.
just got home from another week of teaching biology in the ghetto. talk about birth control. seems like anyone ought to baby-sit or teach for multiple days prior to admittance into parenthood. cleaning a dump off the floor or answering 1,000 crazy questions a day would make anyone think twice before making such a big commitment. mad props to those of you who are parents. for now, i am more than content to be an uncle!

yeah... still not sure about jumping on the kid train myself. i've spent a week with my 3 year old and 4 month old niece and nephew and seeing them at such different stages of development is ... daunting. sadly, though, my bio-clock is tic tic ticking but my motherly instinct remains dead in the water. scary stuff.

How can you be mad? That kid did work, son. Twice within the day? That is amazing. I don't even care, I want to shake that kid's hand . . .
