threes

They say death come in threes. WHO would have guessed it would be Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson???

So sad.

Good things about today:

(include but are not limited to the following)

1. Its Laura Denning's B-day and we're going to one of my fave restaurants (PM) to celebrate!!
2. I bought an ottoman (for my desk) at Goodwill (only $8!!) and my back is thanking me!
3. I had a yummie Lucayan Salad for lunch. Thank you, Calypso!
4. I'm in a sundress and those just plain make me feel like my 8 year-old-self. love it!
5. Its almost the weeeeeekend!
6. Orbit. yummie!
7. SUMMER!

Does anyone else feel excessively happy in the Summertime? I mean... I'm not always this excitable. I have all this energy and joy- simply because its SUMMER and the livin' is easy! It makes me want popsicles, pools and oldies! Anyone else?

Philly

Here I am- on my annual visit to see Heidi, Jesse and the kiddos in the Philadelphia area! It is so fun to be here! We're off to go strawberry picking and wear the kids out on a track- Heidi is a genius. :)

Just lovin' life on a little vacay. (Sidenote: If we call the south "the dirty south", perhaps I am visiting "the tidy north?" No one knows...)

Heres to yous guys everywhere! Happy Friday!

Isn't She Lovely

... YES! She is and was!

Chancey was a gorgeous bride and the wedding was simply beautiful. The reception was delightful as well! The perfect setting for an elegant evening of gourmet fare and libations. The band was... inspiring! They were a riot and made me all the more sure that the music makes the reception! :)

We (well, 8 of us) crashed at Will's parent's place and they were the consummate hosts! You know... the kind of home where, as soon as you walk in, you feel inordinately comfortable. Enough to rummage through family photos and, perhaps even, do read-alouds from 6 years of year books. It was just a spectacular weekend. One that I will remember fondly!

Favorite moment of the weekend:
We'd just bid the Thompsons farewell and made our way to our cars when the perfect song queued up on the old ipod. In a fit of glee, we all danced outside of our cars and did this fake "double dutch" thing until the cops shut it down. YES. We got busted for fake jump roping.

But, alas, the joy of the too good to be true weekend had to come to an end with my alarm clock this morning... forcing me to rejoin the real world. Eh- its not too bad. :)

Rain Clouds and Ritalin

Its days like these that I wish I had some sort of prescription for the wonder pills that will grant me focus. Sure, "they" may be responsible for the downfall of America and we all know how Tom Cruise feels... but still.

I CAN'T FOCUS TODAY.

Typically working out before work hones in my spastic brain but today.. the rain clouds are winning. I am obsessed with watching the trees sway to determine if they will, in fact, demolish my trusty Camry. (Sidenote: here at work, we've experienced car crimes a lot this year so far. As I left last night, I saw what I thought was a shattered rear window. I SPRINTED to the car with mouth agape.... only to discover a shadow. Guess my heightened awareness has taken a toll).

Its clearing up quickly and now I'm jonesing on J Dilla to muster some sort of focus.

Counting my freckles,
Kelley

Growing Up

It stand to reason that, in light of the fact that I (a) love number patterns and (b) just reached my 222nd post, I salute my childhood home!

Irongate was the neighborhood that was the setting for such things as having my very own room, styling enormous bangs and taking prom pictures on the back deck... among countless others. It was more than a cozy home- it was a haven, really. Mom and dad made Savannah Round the perfect home. I had gardenias under my window- did you know that? It is still my favorite smell in the universe. I called 222 Savannah Round home from 3rd grade until three years out of college- 16 great years! When mom and dad broke the news of their move, I hardly had a frame of reference for another residence to bear the name home. I have never really given Salisbury, NC (their current address) a chance, to be fair. I am sure it has great elements... I just know none of them are a match for the lowcountry and all her charms. But can any other place be home...?

Here's to you, precious house, you delicious barrel of memories and backdrop for joy, you.

(me in front of old glory- my room out of sight and over my right shoulder)
